THE AI META: Research overview of the push for GenAI integration in game development
University of Skövde, School of Informatics.
2025 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

Generative AI is a much-hyped topic in both research and industry spheres, and the race to develop and deploy AI technologies have both large economic and political implications. Meanwhile, researchers and developers alike envision what this technology could do in their own niche, and what could be gained by its integration. Unfortunately, this near craze brings with it research unwilling to address limitations of the tech and other pain-points associated with adoption. This paper outlines research concerned with attempts at integration of GenAI in the art related aspects of game development, analysing the research in terms of quality and through the lens of issues that exist in the broader machine learning field.
