Comparing JavaScript Libraries for Dynamic Text Enlargement : A Performance Study Focused on Web Accessibility (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Web accessibility is crucial for individuals with visual impairments to access digital information on equal terms. This study examines how two JavaScript libraries - Anime.js and jQuery - affect response time when implementing dynamic text enlargement with a hover effect. Through an experiment involving 2,000 measurements per library, response times were compared to assess which solution performs better. The results showed that Anime.js generally had slightly lower response times and more stable performance, although the difference was not statistically significant according to an ANOVA test. The study highlights how technical choices, even between two relatively simple libraries, can influence the effectiveness of accessibility adaptations. It also underscores the importance of evaluating adaptations not only based on functionality but also on performance.
