Abstract [en]
This study explores the use of serious games as an educational tool to increase young people’s engagement, and motivation in learning about social work. A role-playing game was developed in collaboration with the Municipal Department of Social Services to address common misconceptions and promote early help-seeking behavior. The game content was based on real-world social work practices and evaluated by professionals. A mixed-methods evaluation was conducted through a Likert-scale questionnaire completed by seven participants aged 15–18. The results show that the game effectively sparked initial interest and delivered useful knowledge, although engagement levels were moderate due to pacing and text-heavy design. Overall, the study demonstrates the potential of serious games in public education and offers practical insights into factors affecting user engagement and learning satisfaction.
