Optimization of BI processes within Volvo Cars, Program Finance and Product Costing : A case study analysing business needs and future opportunities (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Business Intelligence (BI) has become a central component of data-driven decision-making within organizations. This thesis aims to examine and optimize BI processes, with a particular focus on large, complex, and data-intensive organizations. A qualitative case study was conducted at Volvo Cars, utilizing semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders to map current BI processes and identify challenges and areas for improvement.

The findings reveal that existing BI practices are primarily centered around reporting and historical analysis, while there is considerable potential to leverage BI for predictive analytics and proactive decision-making. Key challenges include poor data quality, manual workflows, and limited user-friendliness. The study recommends increasing automation in data pipelines, enhancing user training, and developing more intuitive BI tools. Strengthening BI maturity can significantly improve an organization’s ability to make data-driven decisions and streamline business processes.
