The absence of design standards in board game rulebook design hinders player engagement. This study optimized the 'Set Collection' rulebook utility by investigating its construction. The research employed a qualitative, descriptive design, analyzing ten rulebooks via structured document analysis, using the principles of information architecture described by Dan Brown (2010b). Findings identified standard structural components and demonstrated how game complexity dictates optimal rulebook design (modular for complex, concise for simple). The analysis highlighted key IA strengths: progressive disclosure, visual aids, and consistent navigation. This research offers an IA-informed framework for crafting intuitive, accessible rulebooks, enhancing players' comprehension and overall gaming experience.
