Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva och skapa en djupare förståelse av socialarbetares upplevelser av bemötandet från föräldrar och emotionellt arbete som utförs i samband med det utökade hembesöket för förstagångsföräldrar. För att tolka och analysera respondenternas upplevelser har socialpsykologiska teorier använts, såsom emotionellt arbete, copingstrategier, strukturell-funktionell och dramaturgisk rollteori. I studien genomfördes 11 semistrukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer med socialarbetare om deras upplevelse kring sin yrkesroll i samband med hembesök. Data analyserades med en induktiv tematisk analys. Studiens resultat visar att socialarbetare utövar emotionellt arbete i sin yrkesroll, vilket hjälper dem att möta olika reaktioner från föräldrar och för att reglera sina egna känslor. Intrycksstyrning och djupt agerande används som strategier för att skapa ett intryck av tillit hos föräldrarna. Negativa konsekvenser av emotionellt arbete i yrket förebyggs genom emotionsfokuserad och problemfokuserad coping. Detta genom att utveckla strategier, få socialt stöd från kollegor och vara medveten om konsekvenser som yrket kan medföra. Studien kan bidra med att främja förståelse för socialarbetares upplevelser av emotionellt arbete i sin yrkesroll. Studien kan skapa medvetenhet hos socialarbetare, socialchefer och relevanta samarbetsaktörer om vilka resurser som behövs för att förebygga konsekvenser och därmed skapa bättre förutsättningar för att höja kvaliteten på deras arbete.

The aim of this study is to describe and create a deeper understanding of social workers' experiences of the treatment from parents and the emotional work that is carried out in connection with the extended home visit for first-time parents. To interpret and analyze the respondents' experiences, social psychological theories have been used, such as emotional labor, coping strategies, structural-functional and dramaturgical role theory. In the study, 11 semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with social workers about their experience of their professional role in connection with home visits. Data were analyzed using an inductive thematic analysis. The results of the study show that social workers practice emotional work in their professional role, which helps them to face different reactions from parents and to regulate their own emotions. Impression management and deep acting are used as strategies to create an impression of trust with parents. Negative consequences of emotional labor in the profession are prevented through emotion-focused and problem-focused coping. This is done by developing strategies, receiving social support from colleagues and being aware of the consequences that the profession can entail. The study can contribute to promoting understanding of social workers' experiences of emotional work in their professional role. The study can create awareness among social workers, social managers and relevant partners about what resources are needed to prevent consequences and thereby create better conditions for raising the quality of their work.
