Factors for preventing problematic school absence (English)
Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: I Sverige är problematisk skolfrånvaro hos elever en växande utmaning och innebär en allvarlig risk för såväl elevens psykiska och fysiska välmående som dess lärande. Hög skolfrånvaro riskerar att leda till negativa konsekvenser för eleven och framtida möjligheter i livet.

Syfte: Syftet var att belysa faktorer som förebygger problematisk skolfrånvaro.

Metod: En kvalitativ metod med induktiv ansats användes där semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes digitalt med åtta informanter inom elevhälsan. Data analyserades enligt kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

Resultat: Analysen resulterade i följande fyra kategorier: 1: Struktur och ledning vars underkategorier var Gemensamt systematiskt och kontinuerligt arbetssätt och Ekonomi och resurser. 2: Samarbete och samverkan med Tvärprofessionellt samarbete inom elevhälsan och Samverkan med familj, pedagoger och externa aktörer som underkategorier. 3: Trygga relationer med underkategorierna Skapa goda relationer till eleverna och Trygga relationer och främjande lärmiljöer. 4: Eleven i fokus och underkategorierna Lyssna på och respektera elevens önskan och behov samt Individuella anpassningar och flexibla lösningar.

Konklusion: Konklusionen av studien visar på vikten av att som skolsköterska vara medveten om vilka faktorer som förebygger problematisk skolfrånvaro, på olika systemnivåer, för att tidigt sätta in insatser och åtgärder som kontinuerligt följs upp samt utvärderas.

Abstract [en]

Background: Problematic school absence among pupils in Sweden is a growing challenge and implicates a serious risk to both the pupils’ mental and physical well-being and their learning skills. There is a risk that problematic school absence leads to negative consequences for the student and their future opportunities in life.

Aim: The aim of this study was to highlight factors that prevent problematic school absence.

Method: A qualitative method with an inductive approach was used where semi-structured interviews were conducted digitally with eight professionals from the pupils’ health care team. The data was analyzed according to qualitative content analysis.

Findings: The analysis resulted in the following four categories: 1: Structure and management, whose subcategories were Mutually systematic and continuous working method and Finance and resources. 2: Cooperation and collaboration with Interprofessional cooperation within the pupils’ health care team and Collaboration with family, educators and external collaborators as subcategories. 3: Assured relationships with the subcategories Creating good relationships with pupils and Assured relationships and promoting learning environments. 4: The pupil in focus and the subcategories Listening and respecting the pupils’ wishes and needs and Individual adaptations and flexible solutions.

Conclusion: The conclusion of the study shows the importance of being aware, as a school nurse, of the factors that prevent problematic school absence, at different system levels, in order to implement early interventions and measures that are continuously followed up and evaluated.
