Digital healthcare services from a patient perspective : A literature review (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Background: By 2025, Sweden should be a world leader in the use of digital healthcare services. Communication with healthcare can today take place via telephone, video calls, digital platforms and AI-based healthcare services. With the increased implementation of digital communication, it is relevant to examine the patient's experience of the digital care to continuously improve and ensure its efficiency, accessibility and that it is adapted to the patient's needs.

Aim: The aim is to illustrate the patient's experience of the encounter with healthcare in their digital services.

Method: The method used was a general literature review containing qualitative articles. Eleven scientific articles were selected that contained the patient's experience of digital communication. The analysis and review of the articles was carried out using Friberg's review template and analysis model.

Findings: The digital care services have contributed to flexible care and the patient's digital competence has been significant for the experience. The experience of the opportunity to be involved in their care has been shared among the patients. Patients have had a weak trust in AI and AI-based applications.

Conclusion: Digital health services should be a complement to physical visits and not replace them. For the patient, care becomes more flexible to be able to use this type of care, the patient needs to have access to technology and have digital skills.
