Introduktion: Migration kan påverka människors hälsa på olika sätt, och kan bidra till en ojämlik hälsa. Hälsan samt hälsolitteraciteten avseende sexuell och reproduktiv hälsa och rättigheter kan ofta vara lägre hos personer med migrantbakgrund än hos den övriga befolkningen, med negativa hälsokonsekvenser som följd. Hälsokommunikatörer med utbildning inom vården är den yrkesgrupp som oftast har i uppdrag att utbilda målgruppen om SRHR. Dock finns lite beskrivet i svensk kontext gällande området inom SRHR, samt hur hälsokommunikatörer arbetar med det hälsofrämjande uppdraget samt med vilka metoder hälskommunikatörer utbildar. Syfte: Studien syftade till att undersöka hälsokommunikatörers upplevelser av att utbilda personer med migrantbakgrund inom sexuell och reproduktiv hälsa och rättigheter utifrån ett hälsofrämjande perspektiv, samt undersöka hur hälsokommunikatörer arbetade för att öka hälsolitteraciteten hos personer med migrantbakgrund. Metod: Datainsamlingen genomfördes med semi-strukturerade intervjuer med åtta hälskommunikatörer. Data analyserades med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Analysen mynnade ut i fem kategorier; kunskap om kvinnohälsa samt preventivmedels verkan och effekt, sjukdomslära om STI – främjande för hälsolitteraciteten, aktivt lärande och illustrativa exempel för att utveckla hälsolitteracitet, organisatoriska hinder för det hälsofrämjande arbetet samt kulturell kompetens – mötet mellan hälsokommunikatörer och deltagare. Slutsats: Studiens resultat visar att hälsokommunikatörers arbetar utifrån kulturell kompetens samt med evidensbaserade metoder och hälsolitterära modeller. Vidare visar studien på utvecklingsområden som bör prioriteras såsom sjukdomslära, kunskap om STI samt mäns hälsa. Studien belyser även organisatoriska förbättringsområden vilka kan förbättra hälsokommunikatörers arbetsförhållanden.

Introduction: Migration can affect people's health in different ways and can contribute to unequal health. Health and health literacy regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights among migrants is often inferior to the average population, and limited health literacy can result in negative health outcomes. Health communicators with training in healthcare is the main profession who educate migrants. However, little is described within the Swedish context. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate health communicators' experiences of educating people with a migrant background in sexual and reproductive health and rights from a health promotion perspective, as well as to investigate how health communicators worked to increase the health literacy of people with a migrant background. Method: Data was collected conducting semi-structured interviews with eight health communicators. The data was analyzed with a qualitative content analysis. Result: The analysis resulted in five categories; knowledge about women's health – effect and usage of contraceptives, knowledge regarding STI, active learning and illustrative examples to develop health literacy, organizational obstacles to the health promotion work and the usage of cultural competence in the meetings between communicators and participants. Conclusion: The results shows that health comminutors use their cultural competence in educational moments and, that they rely on evidence based educational methods and health literary models. Furthermore, the study presents areas of development that should be given greater priority, areas include knowledge of STIs and men's health. The study also shows areas for organizational improvement to improve the working conditions of health communicators.
