Development of a control program for strength testing of concrete pipes (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This thesis was conducted at Automations Teknik in Lidköping (Atlid) and describes the development of an automated control system for strength testing of concrete pipes. The purpose of the project was to create a system that enables accurate, repeatable, and efficient testing by automating the operational steps. The system was developed using Siemens TIA Portal V21 in accordance with the international standard IEC 61131-3 to achieve a standardized, modular, and scalable software structure tailored for industrial presses. To manage various test types and inputs, an HMI was integrated, allowing the operator to input the desired operating parameters.

The result is a program that handles breaking limits, test sequences, and the presentation of results without manual intervention. The implementation of the V-model throughout the project ensured stable and repeatable logic. Furthermore, this work demonstrates that automation in industrial testing contributes to increased process stability, a reduced risk of human error, and enhanced efficiency. The report also highlights challenges encountered along the way, such as hardware configuration and the simulation of external components.
