Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Malnutrition är ett utbrett problem bland äldre personer inom äldreomsorgen och kan leda till försämrad hälsa, ökad sjuklighet och sänkt livskvalitet. Sjuksköterskor har ett övergripande ansvar att förebygga undernäring, identifiera risker samt planera och följa upp nutritionsåtgärder. Dock påverkas arbetet av både individuella och organisatoriska faktorer.

Syfte: Att belysa sjuksköterskors förebyggande arbete mot malnutrition hos äldre personer inom äldreomsorgen.

Metod: Litteraturöversikt med både kvantitativa och kvalitativa artiklar.

Resultat: Strukturerade arbetsprocesser, klinisk bedömning och individuella åtgärder, Ansvarsfördelning och teamarbete, Bristande kunskap och organisatoriska förutsättningar samt Måltid som helhetsupplevelse.

Konklusion: Förebyggande arbete mot malnutrition kräver en kombination av strukturerade arbetsverktyg, klinisk kompetens, fungerande teamarbete samt organisatoriskt stöd för att möjliggöra personcentrerad och säker vård.

Abstract [en]

Background: Malnutrition is a widespread problem among older adults in elderly care and can lead to deteriorating health, increased morbidity and reduced quality of life. Nurses have an overall responsibility to identify risks, plan and follow up on nutritional interventions, but their work is influenced by both individual and organizational factors.

Aim: To illuminate nurses’ preventive work against malnutrition among older adults in elderly care.

Method: A literature review including both quantitative and qualitative articles.

Findings: Structured work processes, Clinical assessment and individualized interventions, Division of responsibilities and teamwork, Lack of knowledge and organizational factors, and The meal as a holistic experience.

Conclusion: Preventive work against malnutrition requires a combination of structured work tools, clinical competence, effective teamwork and organizational support to enable person-centered and safe care.
