Högskolan i Skövde

Bakgrund: Alla skolor skall ha tillgång till ett elevhälsoteam där skolsköterskan står för medicinska insatsen. Skolsköterskan sammarbetar dels inom teamet och dels med lärare. Skolsköterskan är ofta ensam i sin profession i skolans pedagogiska kontext, detta kan leda till att skolsköterskans roll uppfattas som otydlig ur ett lärarperspektiv.  

Syfte: Syftet med studien är att undersöka lärares uppfattning av skolsköterskans arbete.

Metod: För att uppnå syftet valdes fenomenografisk metod med induktiv ansats. Datamaterialet bygger på nio semistrukturerade telefonintervjuer med lärare.

Resultat: Resultatet mynnar ut i fyra beskrivningskategorier, vilka påvisar lärares uppfattning om skolsköterskans arbete, dessa är att skolsköterskans arbete består av medicinsk omhändertagande av elever, att skolsköterskan arbetar hälsofrämjande och stödjande, att skolsköterskan arbetar förebyggande samt att skolsköterskans arbete är en del av sambandet mellan hälsa och lärande.

Konklusion: Denna studie bidrar med ökad kunskap om hur lärare uppfattar skolsköterskans arbete inom kommunala grundskolor i Sverige samt hur lärarna uppfattar sambanden mellan hälsa och lärande. Föreliggande studie indikerar att ett fungerande samarbete mellan skolsköterska och lärare är grundläggande för att nå god hälsa hos eleverna och gott studieresultat.

Background: All schools have access to a student health team where the school nurse is responsible for medical intervention. The nurse co-operates partly within the team and partly with the teachers. The school nurse is often lonely in their profession in the educational context of the school, which can lead to the role of the school nurse being unclear from the teacher’s perspective.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to investigate the teachers’ perception of what they understand to be involved in the school nurses’ daily work.

Method: To achieve the purpose of this study, the phenomenographic method was chosen with an inductive approach. The data material is based on nine semi structured telephone interviews with teachers.

Results: The findings of the study are presented through four descriptive categories which demonstrates the teachers perception of the school nurses’ daily work. The categories are: The school nurse has medical skills. The school nurse is promoting good health and that the school nurse is working preventively. The nurse is a component of the connection between health and learning.

Conclusion: This study has contributed with knowledge of how teachers perceive the school nurse's work in Swedish municipal elementary schools and how the teachers perceive the relationships between health and learning. The present study indicates that good cooperation between the school nurse and teacher is essential for achieving good health for students and good school study results.
