A good self-esteem of students will often coincide with good academic performance, but it has also shown that students do not have low self-esteem due to low academic performance. Students' self-esteem is both a complex topic and concepts. We want this study to draw attention and to discuss teachers' efforts to enhance students' self-esteem in school. Encouragement and support of the school adopted in the study contribute to strengthening students' self-esteem. The study examines whether and how nine pupils in a sixth class is that they get encouragement and support of / from their teachers in school subjects and in learning situations. Of the results revealed that some students feel that the teacher encourages them through praise, it may be both written and oral. It further appeared that some students feel the support of teachers by allowing them to practice more on what they think is difficult and some students expressed that they do not receive any encouragement or no aid from their teachers. The results show that students have different difficult to perceive what is aid and what is encouragement from the teacher. The results illustrate the discussion we pupils statements in relation to the concept of self-esteem and our thoughts.

Range Extender for the Renault Fluence Z.E.: Choice of the engine and design of the structural support.2012Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 15 credits / 22,5 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Electric cars have appeared as an alternative to the big pollution caused by internal combustion engine cars. However, electric cars as the Renault Fluence Z.E. are not very sold in the market because of their small range of autonomy. To make this car an attractive option, it is necessary to add a range extender that extends its autonomy. This range extender is based in the addition of a small internal combustion engine to be attached only when the electric autonomy cannot fulfill the trip. A range extender is chosen by means of a comparison between different electric engines sold in the market. By means of a classification tree, the different places of the car where to mount it are compared and the most appropriate is chosen. By using Solidworks, a structure to support the engine and attach it to the car is designed. The result is a Range Extender device to mount in the hitch hook of the Renault Fluence Z.E. that provides an autonomy of around 665 km. This supposes a good solution for the owner of the Renault Fluence Z.E. who needs to cover trips of more than 180 km, the electric autonomy of this car.

TREATING HORROR WITH ECSTASY: Neurobiological Rationale for Treating Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder with 3,4- methylenedioxymethylamphetamine2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disabling condition that afflicts 1-10% of the general population, with twice as high lifetime prevalence for women than men. Treatments exist, but none have proven reliable and consistent efficacy. A large minority of patients remain treatment-resistant despite undergoing several different types of treatment over extended periods of time. Recently completed studies in the U.S. and in Switzerland have demonstrated the potential of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-assisted psychotherapy for treatment-resistant PTSD. One of the major problems of treating PTSD is the patients’ fear state and inability to form a therapeutic alliance. Both these issues can be facilitated through administration of MDMA; the psychological effects - such as heightened empathy, increased openness and diminished anxiety – seem well-suited for therapeutic purposes. The rationale behind treating PTSD with MDMA has been indicated in neuroimaging studies; MDMA affects some of the neural structures altered in patients with PTSD, most notably the amygdala and the ventromedial prefrontal cortex. Using the Schedule 1 substance MDMA for this purpose is however controversial; animal studies have indicated that MDMA is neurotoxic, although no adverse effects on humans related to incidental use of MDMA in a controlled setting have been found. In conclusion, the data support that MDMA may be an efficient tool for treating PTSD, as well as safe and effective to use in a clinical context.

IT-supported knowledge repositories: Increasing their Usefulness by Supporting Knowledge Capture2008Doctoral thesis, monograph (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

Organizations use various resources to achieve business objectives, and for financial gain. In modern business, knowledge is a critical resource, and organizations cannot afford not to manage it. Knowledge Management (KM) aims to support learning and to create value for the organization. Based on three levels of inquiry (why, what, how), work presented in this thesis includes a synthesized view of the existing body of knowledge concerning KM and hence a holistic characterization of KM. This characterization reveals a strong dependency between KM and Learning Organization (LO). Neither of them can be successful without the other. We show that a KM project resulting in an IT-supported knowledge repository is a suitable way to start when the intention is to initiate KM work. Thus, our research focuses on ITsupported knowledge repositories.Large numbers of KM projects fail, and organizations lack support for their KM undertakings. These are the main problems that our research addresses. In order for an IT-supported knowledge repository to be successful, it must be used. Thus, the content of the repository is critical for success. Our work reveals that the process of capturing new knowledge is critical if the knowledge repository is to include relevant and updated knowledge. With the purpose of supporting the capture process, this thesis provides a detailed characterization of the capture process as well as guidance aiming to facilitate the implementation of the capture process in such a way that knowledge is continuously captured, also after the KM implementation project is completed. We argue that the continuous capture of new knowledge which can potentially be stored in the knowledge repository will, in the long term perspective, have a positive influence on the usefulness of the repository. This will most likely increase the number of users of the repository and accordingly increase the number of successful KM projects. All the work presented in this thesis is the result of a qualitative research process comprising a literature review and an empirical study that were carried out in parallel. The empirical study is a case study inspired by action research, which involved participation in the project Efficient Knowledge Management and Learning in Knowledge Intensive Organizations (EKLär).

Knowledge Leakage when SMEs Participate in Supply Chains: What Is It About and How Can It Occur?2016In: International Journal of Knowledge and Systems Science (IJKSS), ISSN 1947-8208, Vol. 7, no 3, p. 30-45Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The advantages of sharing knowledge when participating in a Supply Chain (SC) are well established in the literature, but the challenge of knowledge leakage, and how to manage it, is still in its infancy. In order to increase the understanding of knowledge leakage, when SMEs participate in SCs, this study describes types of knowledge that may leak away, how they are valued, and how knowledge leakage can occur. The result includes two frameworks that also have shown to be potentially useful for examining the maturity of a specific SME with regard to knowledge leakages when participating in the SC.

Planning for Information Systems Development: A Framework for supporting the management of Success Factors2002Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

In the information systems development process there are important success factors. By doing an extensive literature survey we have found that these factors emerge mainly from organisational issues concerning the objective of the process and the stakeholders. One factor - to discuss the system, its subsystems and to define the system's boundary - is a prerequisite for all the others. Factors emerging from the objective are mainly about the objective being well analysed and defined, being accepted among the stakeholders and meeting business objectives. Factors emerging from stakeholders are mainly about involving the right stakeholders in the process, achieving a positive attitude and taking care of their needs about knowledge and confidence. Based on this we have developed a framework aiming to guide organisations in what considerations they should make before the project begins. As a result of our framework there will be both a clear objective, which support the business mission, as well as positive stakeholders to support the information systems development process.

Vidareutveckling av informationssystem: Vilka olika aktiviteter går att identifiera i VAD-fasen?2001Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    · Fatta beslut

    · Utföra undersökningar med hjälp av informationsinsamlande aktiviteter

    · Författa dokument

    · Deltaga i diskussioner

Strategic Knowledge Management Issues when Designing Knowledge Repositories2007In: Proceedings of the 15th European Conference on Information Systems, ECIS 2007, Association for Information Systems, 2007, p. 528-539Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Knowledge forms an important asset in modern organisations. In order to gain and sustain competitive advantage knowledge has to be managed. One aspect of doing this is to build knowledge repositories. In this paper we extend the strategic knowledge management framework to betters suit the process of constructing knowledge repositories. The extended framework highlights, for example, the impact of organizational culture and the importance of distinguishing between the individual and organizational knowledge processes and relating them to each other. The application of the extended framework to analyze a case in the public health care sector revealed a number of important aspects in the preparation and implementation of a knowledge management project. In particular we highlight the importance of having a strategic vision and making the dual relationship between usage and design explicit when implementing a knowledge repository.

Supporting Knowledge Evaluation to Increase Quality in Electronic Knowledge Repositories2010In: International Journal of Knowledge Management, ISSN 1548-0666, E-ISSN 1548-0658, Vol. 6, no 1, p. 23-43Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Knowledge forms an important asset in modern organizations. In order to gain and sustain competitive advantage knowledge has to be managed. One aspect of this is to use Electronic Knowledge Repositories (EKR) to enhance knowledge sharing, reuse and learning. The success of an EKR is dependent on the quality of its content. For knowledge to be stored in an EKR, it has to be captured. One crucial part of the capture process is to evaluate whether the identified knowledge should be incorporated in the EKR or not. Therefore, to increase quality in an EKR, the evaluation stage of the capture process must be successfully carried out. Based on an interpretive field study and an extensive literature review, this paper identifies and characterizes Critical Success Factors (CSF) in the evaluation stage and presents guidance aiming to support implementation of the evaluation stage with the purpose to increase the quality of an EKR. In particular, the guidance supports the decision whether identified knowledge should be stored or not and it highlights the importance of performing evaluation addressing correctness, relevance, protection and redundancy. The characterization of the capture process contributes mainly to KM theory, and the guidance to KM practice.

Critical Success Factors in Capturing Knowledge for Retention in IT-Supported Repositories2014In: Information, ISSN 2078-2489, Vol. 5, no 4, p. 558-569Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

In this paper, the authors demonstrate the suitability of IT-supported knowledge repositories for knowledge retention. Successful knowledge retention is dependent on whatis stored in a repository and, hence, possible to share. Accordingly, the ability to capture theright (relevant) knowledge is a key aspect. Therefore, to increase the quality in an IT-supported knowledge repository, the identification activity, which starts the capture process, must besuccessfully performed. While critical success factors (CSFs) for knowledge retention andknowledge management are frequently discussed in the literature, there is a knowledge gapconcerning CSFs for this specific knowledge capture activity. From a knowledge retention perspective, this paper proposes a model that characterizes CSFs for the identification activity and highlights the CSFs’ contribution to knowledge retention.

Managing Critical Success Factors in a B2B Setting2006In: IADIS International Journal on WWW/Internet, ISSN 1645-7641, Vol. 4, no 1, p. 96-110Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

When information systems (IS) are developed and implemented, in any context, a number of success factors determine whether or not the effort will succeed. Attention to success factors helps to avoid some costly mistakes, and speeds up the way change is managed. This paper is focused on how to manage critical success factors (CSF) in organisations involved in standards-based Business-to-Business (B2B), with a focus on organisational CSFs. An existing CSF framework in IS planning is applied theoretically to a B2B setting. Activities in a B2B standards implementation model are compared and matched against the framework. Results show that the framework is suitable for planning B2B implementations, essentially for strategic planning. Based on these results we have developed concrete guidelines to be used in the planning phase by strategic planners. Future work will consist of empirical validation, further detailing the guidelines in order to develop a practically useful ”tool” for managing CSF in a B2B standards implementation.

Seven Types of Knowledge Loss in the Knowledge Capture Process2010In: Proceedings of the 18th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS 2010), Association for Information Systems, 2010, p. Paper 13-Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Society is based on knowledge and the availability thereof. Access to knowledge empowers people, and organizations must reuse knowledge to be competitive. The right knowledge to the right person at the right time is important for success, and IT plays an important role in order to achieve this goal, for example in the form of Electronic Knowlege Repositories (EKR). The success of an EKR depends on what is stored therein, and the ability to capture the right knowledge is hence a key aspect. This, however, is a complex issue. The goal of this paper is to identify and describe different types of knowledge loss, seven of which have been identified and characterized. As an example, one knowledge loss shows that not all knowledge can be stored, and critical knowledge elements may therefore be lost when attempting to store it. Some knowledge loss may be desirable, since an organization should not want to store everything. The results contribute to capturing the right knowledge, and hence to successful EKR. The results thus contribute to elevating the competitive power of an organization.

How to Successfully Apply Critical Success Factors in Healthcare Information Systems Development?: A Story from the Field2012In: Proceedings of the 20th European Conference on Information Systems, Barcelona, Spain 2012, Association for Information Systems, 2012, p. Paper 220-Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Many studies have focused on retrospectively identifying critical success factors (CSFs) for healthcare information system (HIS) development projects. In this paper the central question is how in advance selected CSFs can be applied in the best way. An action research study has been carried out in a large Swedish healthcare organization during 2010 and 2011 where the application of four CSFs has been planned, documented and reflected upon. Challenges are identified that may arise when tailoring general CSFs to situational circumstances. For example, the self-evident CSF of ?having a clear and accepted objective? becomes tricky and complex in practice when facing 15 autonomous boards that all need to support the project. Similar insights are gained for other CSFs. More research is needed to illuminate the complexities of how to apply CSFs. Another important observation is that different CSFs strengthen one another, which implies that they should be applied and analysed in concert rather than isolated. Finally, healthcare practitioners need to be aware that CSFs are very helpful, but that tailoring general CSFs to the unique situation of the HIS development project requires much effort and continuous reflection from a holistic perspective embedded in systems thinking.

    Abstract [en]

This is a study about attitudes to theoretical and practical homework. Our interest in the

subject emerged during our practical teacher training but is also influenced from our own

VFU "practical teacher training" and our own time in school. All students have different ways

of learning and as pedagogues we ought to try to individualize the education. We believe a

practical homework could stimulate the students' different ways of learning. This is both a

qualitative and a quantitative study. Our study is also experimental because we got three

groups that did theoretical homework and three groups that, in addition, did a practical

homework before a test. Both groups are important to our study. Then we examined which

attitudes the students had to theoretical and practical homework by the means of a

questionnaire, which measured the students attitudes to practical and theoretical homework.

The study will be made in eight class. We are well aware that you can not generalize. We also

compared the test with a test the students did previously, before are study took place. We

completed the study with an interview with the students teacher in order to ask what she

considered about the test results and practical homework. And if she believes the practical

homework affects the result of the test. By this study we try the hypothesis that practical

homework can stimulate students in their different ways of learning. The study shows that the

students prefer a variation of both theoretical and practical homework.

Den offentliga sektorn och dess employer branding: En studie med fokus på högskolestudenters perspektiv på den offentliga sektorn som en potentiell arbetsgivare2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Sweden’s generation shift in the labor market will entail new recruitment needs for all workplaces. In the public sector, it is necessary to recruit up to half a million employees by 2020. At present, there is already a shortage of employees in the public sector and may need to adapt their employer branding strategy to attract new potential employees. New potential employees who will enter the labor market in the near future are college students. Since the public sector has limitations on competing through higher wages, instead it is required to make investments in symbolic attributes such as organizational culture and values.

The purpose is to examine from the perspective of college students, how the public sector can use employer branding and its brand attributes to attract new potential employees. This is achieved through a qualitative study in which ten college students are interviewed. This method was used to capture respondents’ perception and experience of the public sector as a potential employer.

The study has contributed that the public sector should evaluate its employer branding and the characteristics that are promised and whether these are really kept. Failure to do so also impairs social identification that once created attraction and this creates an initiative for bad rumors. Furthermore, important attributes have been identified such as values, organizational culture, working conditions, career development, but also that salary has become among the most important attributes. College students’ attitude towards the public sector is based on both their own experiences, family or friends’ experiences and social media. It is therefore important that what is promised is actually kept because rumors among an individual’s social circle/social media can affect the attraction of new potential employees.

Exclusive breastfeeding of low birth weight infants for the first six months: infant morbidity and maternal and infant anthropometry2011In: Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, ISSN 0964-7058, E-ISSN 1440-6047, Vol. 20, no 1, p. 62-68Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background: to report anthropometry and morbidity among term low birth weight infants and anthropometry of their first time mothers during the first six months in relation to breastfeeding practice. Methods: we examined data from a randomized controlled trial in Manila, the Philippines. Of the 204 mothers randomized, 68 mothers received eight postpartum breastfeeding counseling sessions, the rest did not. Maternal and infant anthropometric data at birth, 2, 4 and 6 months were taken. During seven follow-up hospital visits, an independent interviewer recorded feeding data. Results: the 24 infants exclusively breastfed from birth to six months did not have diarrhea compared to 134 partially breastfed (mean 2.3 days) and 21 non-breastfed infants (mean 2.5 days). Partially breastfed and non-breastfed infants compared to exclusively breastfed infants had more frequent, as well as more severe episodes of respiratory infections. At six months, neither overall gain in infant weight, length and head circumferences nor mean maternal weight and body mass index differed significantly between the feeding groups. Conclusions: exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months can be recommended in term low birth weight infants, who were protected from diarrhea, had fewer respiratory infections, required no hospitalization and had catch up growth. Exclusively breastfeeding mothers did not differ from mothers who breastfed partially or those who did not breastfeed with regard to weight changes at six months.

When and why Filipino mothers of term low birth weight interrupted breastfeeding exclusively2010In: Breastfeeding Review, ISSN 0729-2759, Vol. 17, no 3, p. 5-10Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This paper makes use of data collected in a randomised controlled trial that was designed to test the efficacy of postpartum breastfeeding counselling to increase exclusive breastfeeding among term low birth weight infants in Manila during the first six months. Mothers were randomised to a control group or one of two home visit interventions: by trained breastfeeding counsellors or child care counsellors without breastfeeding support training. Sixty mothers received peer breastfeeding counselling while a further 119 mothers did not. The median duration of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers who received counselling was five weeks versus two weeks among those who received no counselling (p<0.001). Exclusive breastfeeding was interrupted to offer infants water, traditional herbal extracts or artificial baby milk. Mothers who interrupted exclusive breastfeeding claimed they had insufficient milk or that their infants had slow weight gain. Early and sustained breastfeeding support will enable mothers to exclusively breastfeed low birth weight infants for the first six months.

    Abstract [en]

The importance of education and lifelong learning are essential factors to ensure and stimulate economic growth in our country, to secure welfare and counteract polarisation of social classes. During the last five years statistics from the Swedish Board of Education shows a constant number of approximately 10 % of the students in year 9 who have not qualified for upper secondary education. This is because they have not attained the goals of the syllabus which require a pass in the core subjects of Swedish, mathematics and English. This fact is the reason for our investigation in which we illustrate teachers’ assertions and lines of arguments concerning impediments and preconditions for attaining the goals of the core subjects.

In this qualitative study we have used interviews as our main approach. We have interviewed six teachers at five different schools in a medium size municipality in the south-west of Sweden. The study is divided into three levels, organization, group and individual level. On the organization level the key issues are school policy, school administration and the steering documents of the school. On the group level the key issues are the class/group and the working team and on the individual level the study focuses on the individual pupil/student and the individual teacher.

The result indicates that the teachers’ lines of arguments were focused on his/her own role of importance for the pupils’/students’ attainments of the goals. Furthermore it appeared that the steering documents play an important part because they can be interpreted in many ways. Other factors shown in the study are that pupils/students are not motivated enough to do schoolwork and thereby reach the goals. There are pupils/students who are less talented and others who have a different cultural background and get enrolled in the Swedish school system late. They might therefore have difficulties attaining the goals. Thus our conclusion is; no it is not possible for every pupil/student to attain the goals of school!

We use both the words pupil and student because we sometimes mean the younger children (pupils) but also the older ones (students).

Facebook usage intensity and compulsive buying tendency: the mediating role of envy, self-esteem, and self-promotion and the moderating role of depression2019In: International Journal of Electronic Marketing and Retailing, ISSN 1741-1025, E-ISSN 1741-1033Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

While Facebook usage intensity (FBUI) and compulsive buying tendency (CBT) have individually received increased research attention, very little is known about the mechanisms through which FBUI affects CBT. This study proposes and tests a multiple mediation model in which the effect of FBUI on CBT is mediated by personality characteristics (envy, self-esteem, and self-promotion). The study also explores the moderating effect of depression on these mediated relationships. The results of a self-administered survey of 393 Bangladeshi adults support the proposed moderated mediation model. The effect of FBUI on CBT is mediated by envy and self-esteem independently. The FBUI indirectly affects CBT through serial mediators: i) envy and self-esteem and ii) envy and self-promotion. These serial mediating effects are moderated by depression. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

Effect of distance and communication climate on export performance: The mediating role of relationship quality2013In: Journal of Global Marketing, ISSN 0891-1762, E-ISSN 1528-6975, Vol. 26, no 5, p. 284-300Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The authors explore how distance and the communication climate perceived by exporters influence export performance both directly and as mediated by relationship quality. The ready-made garments industry in Bangladesh yielded 185 responses. A mediation model was tested using structural equation modeling, applying partial least squares techniques. The results show that distance is negatively related to communication climate and relationship quality; relationship quality mediates the distance–export performance relationship, whereas communication climate is positively associated with relationship quality and export performance, and a full mediating role of relationship quality is found in the communication climate–export performance relationship. A strong positive relationship between relationship quality and export performance is also identified. The managerial implication of the study includes that with better relationship strength, it is possible to neutralize the negative impact of distance on export performance. The implications and limitations are also discussed.

The link between export relationship quality, performance and expectation of continuing the relationship: A South Asia exporters’ perspective2015In: International Journal of Emerging Markets, ISSN 1746-8809, E-ISSN 1746-8817, Vol. 10, no 1, p. 16-31Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Purpose - The purpose of this study is threefold: to investigate how relationship quality affects export performance; to see if and to what extent export performance affects exporter satisfaction; and to determine whether exporter satisfaction ultimately affects the expectation of continuing the export-import relationship in an emerging market. Design/methodology/approach - The paper reports the findings of a survey of 185 respondents from the ready-made garments industry in Bangladesh chosen from a convenience sample. The responding exporters were located in Dhaka city or nearby areas. The data were analyzed using the partial least squares technique. Findings - The results support four out of five hypotheses, indicating that there is a significant relationship between exporter relationship quality and financial and strategic export performance. Additionally, a positive relationship between financial export performance and exporter satisfaction and between exporter satisfaction and the expectation of continuing the relationship are shown. No significant relationship between strategic export performance and exporter satisfaction is found. Practical implications - The findings have practical implications for managers and policy-makers interested in developing effective strategies for building and maintaining high quality export-import relationships, especially in the context of an emerging market. Originality/value - In order to accomplish the research goal, the main constructs from two influential streams of literature - social exchange theory and the disconfirmation of expectation theory - are utilized. This is new in the context of an emerging economy perspective.

The Mediating Effect of Relationship Quality on the Transaction Cost-Export Performance Link: Bangladeshi Exporters' Perspectives2015In: Journal of Relationship Marketing, ISSN 1533-2667, E-ISSN 1533-2675, Vol. 14, no 2, p. 152-169Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This study explores how relationship quality might mediate the link between transaction cost variables and export performance. In the proposed conceptual model, relationship-specific assets and uncertainty affect export performance both directly and through relationship quality; survey data from 185 exporting organizations in Bangladesh provide the test of this model. This article thus proposes that transaction cost economics and relational exchange theories are complementary rather than competing theories. These conclusions arise because this study accounts for not only the direct effect of asset specificity and uncertainty on export performance but also their indirect effects through relationship quality, which have not been empirically tested or clarified previously.

Kreditbedömningar och Data Warehouse: En studie om riktlinjer för insamling, transformering och inladdning av kreditbedömningsinformation i Data Warehouse2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Datakvalitetsverktyg i datalager: Hur hanterar datakvalitetsverktyg datakvalitetsfaktorer?2003Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

The ecological footprint on the Earth is increasing as more and more industries are built. As a result of the increasing industrialization firmer demands are implemented for the industries to see to it that their toxic waste is taken care of to reduce the environmental impact. The work of this report is made for developing an oil stop prototype for the company Furhoffs in Västra Götalands County, Sweden. The oil stops function is to prevent light liquids that are harmful for the environment from flowing into the drains. The work begins with a market study to study other products on the market. After the initial market investigation and in consultation with Furhoffs development department it was decid-ed that the prototype should have a mechanical seal. Based on the market study seven con-cepts were developed and two were presented to Furhoffs after evaluation. The prototype in the report called concept 7 was chosen for further development. Concept 7 was then developed to meet the standards according to oil-stops. The result of the development process was that Furhoffs decided to proceed with concept 7 from concept level to produce a prototype. In the future the prototype will be further evaluated and then possibly added to the product assortment of Furhoffs.

När hjärtat plötsligt slutar slå: En kvalitativ litteraturöversikt av patienters upplevelse av att överleva ett hjärtstopp utanför sjukhus2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

The Swedish school has got students in special educational needs since elementary school was introduced 1842. How the education was designed and performed has been different from time to time. We wanted to take part of the teachers' experiences of special educational groups in a process of change over a thirty-year period, and if this process was propitious for the students in special educational needs. The study is qualitative with narrative research interviews as method. The narrative method aims to interpret and understand the teachers' stories. The result of the process change shows that the special educational groups have not changed during this period of time, according to the teachers, despite the organisational changes that has taken place. But however the approach against the students has changed, which we experience has favoured the students in a positive way.

Informativ Ljuddesign: Hur positivt eller negativt upplevs olika typer av ljud i ett spel utan visuella medel?2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Användandet av web services inom 24–timmarsmyndigheten2005Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Tystnad talar: En utvärdering av ”think aloud” i spelbarhetstestning2016Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Sakernas Internet: En studie om vehicular fog computing påverkan i trafiken2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Future vehicles will be very different from today's vehicles. Much of the change will be done using the IoT. The world will be very connected, sensors will be able to access data that most of us did not even know existed. More data also means more problems. Enormous amounts of data will be generated and distributed by the future's IoT devices, and this data needs to be analyzed and stored efficiently using Big data Principles. Fog computing is a development of Cloud technology that is suggested as a solution to many of the problems IoT suffer from. Are traditional storage and analysis tools sufficient for the huge volume of data that will be produced or are new technologies needed to support development?

This study will try to answer the question: "What problems and opportunities does the development of Fog computing in passenger cars have for consumers?" The question is answered by a systematic literature study. The objective of the systematic literature study is to identify and interpret previous literature and research. Analysis of the material has been done by using open coding where coding has been used to sort and categorize data. Results show that technologies like IoT, Big data and Fog computing are very integrated in each other. In the future vehicles there will be a lot of IoT devices that produce huge amounts of data. Fog computing will be an effective solution for managing the amount of data from IoT devices with a low latency. The possibilities will create new applications and systems that help improve traffic safety, the environment and information about the car's state and condition. There are several risks and problems that need to be resolved before a full-scale version can be used, such as data authentication, user integrity, and deciding on the most efficient mobility model.

    Abstract [sv]

Gemensamma mål bland främlingar i en komplex virtuell miljö: En kvalitativ studie kring spel och samarbete2011Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

    Abstract [sv]

Sjuksköterskors erfarenheter av sexuella ofredanden på arbetsplatsen: Litteraturöversikt2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Background: A registered nurse is a caregiver with an academic degree. In their profession, nurses have close encounters with other individuals; including colleagues with other professions as well as patients and their relatives. A nurse is also an individual with own sense of integrity and health, and with a need for a safe work enviroment. The majority of nurses are women. Women are more likely to be victims of sexual harassment than men.

Purpose: The aim was to describe nurses experience of sexual harassment in their workplace.

Method: Literature review containing twelve articles with qualitative and quantitative method.

Result: The perpetrator in sexual harassment against nurses is either a patient or its family or a colleague, often a male. Patient whom suffers from cognitive impairment are difficult to assess if they are aware of their actions if they sexual harass a nurse. Nurses whom have been sexual harassed react in different ways, both in the on-going incident and afterwards. Being sexual harassed may lead to different kinds of negative influence in the nurse’s professional role as well in their own health.

Conclusion: More research is necessary, this study describes that nurses have different experiences of sexual harassment, strategies for management is non-existing or not efficient enough.

Affärsrelationer vid elektronisk handel2001Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

Background: Hypertension is a public health problem and a major risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease. The basis for the nursing care is lifestyle changes. District nurses´ role includes to advise, motivate and support life style changes, as well as to promote patient participation and autonomy, through an equal and mutual communication.

Aim: The aim of the study was to illuminate experiences of district nurses supporting patients with hypertension to make lifestyle changes.

Method: The data were analyzed by qualitative content analysis with an inductive approach. Eight district nurses responsible for hypertensive patients were interviewed.

Results: Three categories emerged from the data analysis: Initiates cooperation; Confirms the individual and Adapts nursing for the patient, with six subcategories.

Conclusion: The district nurses perceived their role as central, important, and responsible when providing advice and instruction. They also considered themselves as an important link between the patient and other actors. Responsiveness of the patient's life context, as well as using a communication strategy when giving counseling on lifestyle changes were considered important to promote patient participation and autonomy. To motivate lifestyle changes individually was described as a difficulty and district nurses expressed frustration with the lack of time for follow-up.
