The linkage between knowledge risk management and organizational performance2019Inngår i: Journal of Business Research, ISSN 0148-2963, E-ISSN 1873-7978, Vol. 105, s. 1-10Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of knowledge risk management (KRM) on organizationalperformance, with measures considered as “softer” measures of performance, i.e. innovativeness, responsiveness, sustainability, and agility. Data were collected using an online questionnaire sent to private and public orga-nizations located all over the world. The analysis and hypotheses testing were performed using structuralequation modeling. The results showed that KRM positively affects organizational success, sustainability, growth, innovativeness, and agility, however, KRM does not show any positive effect on the responsiveness oforganizations. The results can help managers and owners to a better understanding of the linkage between KRMand organizational performance. They could use the results to design their KRM practices accordingly. To theauthors' best knowledge, this paper is the first empirical study that has investigated the relationship betweenKRM and organizational performance with a broad organization sample.

Demand forecasting by temporal aggregation: Using optimal or multiple aggregation levels?2017Inngår i: Journal of Business Research, ISSN 0148-2963, E-ISSN 1873-7978, Vol. 78, s. 1-9Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)
    Abstract [en]

Recent advances have demonstrated the benefits of temporal aggregation for demand forecasting, including increased accuracy, improved stock control and reduced modelling uncertainty. With temporal aggregation a series is transformed, strengthening or attenuating different elements and thereby enabling better identification of the time series structure. Two different schools of thought have emerged. The first focuses on identifying a single optimal temporal aggregation level at which a forecasting model maximises its accuracy. In contrast, the second approach fits multiple models at multiple levels, each capable of capturing different features of the data. Both approaches have their merits, but so far they have been investigated in isolation. We compare and contrast them from a theoretical and an empirical perspective, discussing the merits of each, comparing the realised accuracy gains under different experimental setups, as well as the implications for business practice. We provide suggestions when to use each for maximising demand forecasting gains.

Exploring the transition phase in offshore outsourcing: Decision making amidst knowledge at risk2019Inngår i: Journal of Business Research, ISSN 0148-2963, E-ISSN 1873-7978, Vol. 103, s. 460-471Artikkel i tidsskrift (Fagfellevurdert)
    Abstract [en]

We explore the transition phase in information system (IS) offshore outsourcing, focusing on ongoing decisions made in a client-vendor arrangement and the implications these decisions have for knowledge at risk. Drawing on time-compression and knowledge at risk literatures we argue that firms will need to make ongoing transitional decisions over time as knowledge intensive work is increasingly handed over from client to vendor. We conduct a longitudinal exploratory case study of a strategic development project transitioned from a European client to a company in India over a 4-year period. Analysis indicates: (1) four distinct phases of the transition: penetration, embedment, ramp-up and stabilization; (2) how transitional decisions and knowledge at risk vary across these phases. Results from the longitudinal approach have implications not only for understanding the ‘what’ and ‘how’ in IS offshore outsourcing but also for a deeper insight into the ‘when’ question.
