Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Anastasia Kriachko Røren's thesis Documenting the Nation: How TV Documentaries Reflect and Shape Russian National Identity is a detailed study of how Russian TV documentaries reflect and shape national identity. The thesis explores how ideological influence is embedded in Russian documentary film. Through an analysis of over 300 documentary films, Kriachko Røren investigates how national identity is communicated to Russian-speakers and how documentaries, through their narratives, mirror the developments in Russia in times of political change.
