Abstract [sv]

INTRODUKTION: Stalkning definieras som ett förföljelsemönster hos en person som upprepade gånger försöker ta kontakt med en annan person mot dennes vilja. Stalkning är ett aktuellt folkhälsoproblem med psykologiska och fysiska hälsokonsekvenser på befolkningsnivå. Unga vuxna, kvinnor och män i åldersgruppen 18 till 35 löper högre risk än andra åldersgrupper att drabbas av fenomenet antingen som offer eller förövare. SYFTE: Denna litteraturstudie syftade till att redogöra för vilka uppfattningar och attityder som fanns kring stalkning hos kvinnor och män i åldersgruppen 18 till 35 enligt en genomgång av relevant litteratur. METOD: En strukturerad litteraturstudie utfördes och innefattade elva originalartiklar med såväl kvantitativa som mixmetodstudier. Artiklarna granskades med STROBE checklista för respektive studiedesign och en tematisk analys från Braun & Clark (2006) tillämpades i materialet. RESULTAT: Resultatet bestod av två teman. Det första temat var Allvarlighetsgrad med fem subteman; Motiv och oförutsägbarhet, Varaktighet, Tidigare förhållande mellan offer och förövare, Könstereotyper, samt Skuldbeläggande. Det andra temat var Kulturell bakgrund och bestod av två subteman; sociala normer och lagstiftning. Alla dessa aspekter gav form till uppfattningar och attityder kring fenomenet. SLUTSATS: Kulturella skillnader identifierades och skuldbeläggande av offret belystes som en faktor som formar uppfattningar och attityder inför stalkning. Resultatet skulle kunna användas för att främja utveckling av framtida förebyggande hälsoinsatser som gynnar både målgruppen samt samhällsrepresentanter såsom polis, lärare och sjukvårdspersonal.

Abstract [en]

INTRODUCTION: Stalking is defined as pattern of persecution by a person who repeatedly attempts to contact another person against their will. Stalking is a current public health problem with psychological and physical health consequences at the population level. Young adults, women and men between 18 - 35 years of ages are at greater risk of being affected by this phenomenon either as victims or perpetrators. AIM: The aim of this literature review was to describe the perceptions and attitudes towards stalking in women and men aged 18 to 35 this is based on a review of relevant literature. METHOD: A structured literature review was conducted and included eleven original articles with both quantitative and mixed method studies. The articles were reviewed using the STROBE checklist for respective study design in addition, Braun and Clarks (2006) thematic analysis was applied to analyze the articles. RESULTS: The results consisted of two main themes namely first Severity with five sub- themes, , motive and unpredictability, durations of events, previous relationship between the victim and the perpetrator, gender stereotypes and blaming the victim. The second main theme was Cultural background and consisted of two sub themes, namely Social norms and legislation. CONCLUSION: Cultural differences were identified and victim blaming was highlighted has a notable factor shaping perceptions and attitudes towards stalking. The results could be used to promote the development of future health interventions that would benefit not only the target group but also community representatives such as the police, teachers and health professionals.
