Abstract [en]
Roleplay is used in many industries, including the video game industry, as a creative method to explore ideas. This could be applied to the creation of narratives in games and thus utilized as a collaborative narrative tool for developing creative ideas. This can especially occur in pre-production where many narrative ideas are generated. However, a formalized version of this concept is missing. This leads to the development and testing of the scenario-based roleplay methodology which has the purpose of gathering data from a series of roleplayed scenarios. Testing showcases the potential use cases and types of scenarios individuals could encounter, and the viability of the methodology is tested for usability during pre-production. This culminates in scenario-based roleplay being evaluated as a narrative methodology that helps specify narrative details, hinders scheduling, and dependent on the team, can either assist in narrowing scope, or overly expand it, thus becoming a liability.
