Construction of a material storage system for rods (English)
Abstract [sv]

Sammanfattningsvis behöver konstruktionsförslaget viss vidareutveckling innan implementering i Elos fabrik. Föreslaget framtida arbete presenteras i slutet av rapporten.

Abstract [en]

In manufacturing industries, it is required to handle material in a safe and effective way. It concerns both the raw material, components in production and the finished products. This project aims to develop a material storage system for rods that uses the factory area in an effective way and improves the working environment for the employees at Elos Medtech in Timmersdala.

To develop such a system, proven methods for idea- and concept generation was used. Further the concept that best fulfilled the specification of requirements was chosen to proceed to the construction phase. The components were partly dimensioned from results of analytical calculations and finite element analysis.

The result is a rotating storage system that uses chain drives in order to move. The transporting mechanism is driven with two electrical engines with attached gearboxes. The new construction has 40 storage shelfs that each can handle loads of 200 kg. This system uses the height of the factory in a more efficient way. Furthermore, every employee will be able to use the system for loading and unloading in the height that best suits them. During the development, sustainability aspects have been considered, such as sustainable material selection and improved working environment.

In summary, the construction proposal needs some further development before it can be implemented in Elos factory. The proposed future work is presented at the end of the report.
