Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Stickrädsla är vanligt förekommande bland barn i alla åldrar och kan i samband med vaccinationer leda till försvårande omständigheter. Det finns dock omvårdnadsåtgärder som kan lindra såväl rädsla som smärta hos barn vid nålrelaterade procedurer, som vaccination. Syfte: Var att beskriva skolsköterskors erfarenheter av omvårdnadsåtgärder vid vaccination av elever med stickrädsla. Metod: En kvalitativ forskningsansats baserad på semistrukturerade intervjuer med sex skolsköterskor som analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Analysen resulterade i ett tema, En elevcentrerad omvårdnad skapar goda förutsättningar för en trygg vaccination, och tre huvudkategorier: Att skapa en elevcentrerad utgångspunkt, Att skapa goda förutsättningar och Betydelsen av skolsköterskans tidigare arbetslivserfarenhet. Konklusion: Skolsköterskorna arbetar med olika omvårdnadsåtgärder för att lindra rädsla och smärta i samband med vaccination av elever med stickrädsla. En elevcentrerad omvårdnad hjälper skolsköterskan att se eleven som en helhet och främjar en delaktighet. Vidare kan omvårdnadsåtgärder anpassas utefter elevens individuella behov och önskemål vilket stärker elevens egna förutsättningar till att fullfölja sin vaccination. 

Abstract [en]

Background: Fear of needles is common among children of all ages and can lead to aggravating circumstances in the context of vaccinations. However, there are nursing measures that can relieve both fear and pain in children during needle-related procedures, such as vaccination. Aim: Was to describe school nurses’ experiences of nursing measures when vaccinating pupils with fear of needles. Method: A qualitative research approach based on semistructured interviews with six school nurses that were analyzed with qualitative content analysis. Result: The analysis resulted in a theme, a pupil-centered nursing creates good conditions for safe vaccination, and three main categories: Creating a pupil-centered starting point, creating good conditionsand the importance of the school nurse's previous work experience. Conclusion: The school nurses work with various nursing measures to relieve fear and pain in connection with vaccination of pupils with a fear of needles. A pupil-centered nursing helps the school nurse to see the student as a whole and promotes participation. Furthermore, the nursing measures can be adapted to the pupil´s individual needs and wishes, which strengthens the pupil´s own conditions for completing his or her vaccination.
