Abstract [sv]

Syftet med projektet är att utveckla ett utbildande design- och produktutvecklingsspel för att öka elevers och studenters intresse för ämnet. Detta med avsikt att skapa medvetenhet om ingenjörsyrket och motivera fler elever att välja en designingenjörsutbildning. Examensarbetet utförs med studier om kognition och lärande som, i kombination med användarstudier och designmetodik, tillämpas för att generera olika spelkoncept. Rapporten behandlar sedan vidareutveckling av ett koncept med tester och utvärdering. Projektet resulterar i ett spel som baseras på kombinationer av olika kortlekar, vilka tillsammans utgör problem som spelare ska lösa. Spelet har två varianter, där den ena erbjuder underhållning genom tävling med begränsat teoretiskt innehåll. Medan den andra realistiskt speglar en produktutvecklingsprocess och uppmuntrar till diskussion mellan spelare. Det framtagna lösningsförslaget uppnår projektets uppsatta mål och har, från diskussioner med uppdragsgivare, potential att tillämpas i utbildning. För produktion av spelets krävs emellertid vidare utveckling.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of the project is to develop an educational design and product development game to increase students' interest in the field of knowledge. This, with the intention to create awareness of the engineering profession and motivate more students to choose a design engineering education. The degree project is carried out with studies on cognition and learning which, combined with user studies and design methodology, are applied to generate game concepts. The thesis also deals with further development of one concept through tests and evaluation. The project results in a card game based on combinations of different cards, which together creates problems for the players to solve. The game has two variants. One of which offers entertainment through competition with limited theoretical content. While the other realistically reflects a product development process and entourage discussion between players. The proposed concept achieves the project's goals and has, from discussions with the client, potential to be applied in education. However, further development is required for production of the game.
