Investigation over how different laser parameters affect the welding depth and formation of pores for laser welded copper hairpins (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The thesis is about laser welding of copper hairpins used in electric motors as stator windings. There are different selectable laser parameters such as effect and feed rate when laser welding. A literature study on how welding depth and pore formation can be investigated, a welding experiment where the parameters effect and the welding path varied and a microscopic analysis was carried out. The thesis showed that different parameters affected the hairpin’s characteristics and defects, for example a greater welding depth gave a lower resistance and pores that often occur affect the strength of the weld. The experiment and the analysis proved that welding depth can be measured and pore formation can be investigated with a microscope and microscopic photographs.
