Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Skolsköterskors roll har förändrats över tid och det har skett ett skifte från ett patogent till ett salutogent synsätt. Skolsköterskors hälsofrämjande arbete anses vara nyckeln till förbättrad hälsa hos barn- och ungdomar. Trots tydliga beskrivningar om den hälsofrämjande samt förebyggande inriktningen finns uppfattningar bland skolsköterskor om att de förväntas fylla en annan funktion. Detta kan skapa utmaningar i arbetet vad gäller samarbete och kommunikation samt påverka känslan av sammanhang. Syfte: Att belysa skolsköterskors uppfattningar av att arbeta i en skolkontext. Metod: För att uppnå syftet valdes fenomenografisk metod med induktiv ansats. Dataanalysen bygger på tio individuella intervjuer med skolsköterskor som genomfördes digitalt via plattform Teams eller Zoom. Resultat: Resultatet av studien presenteras genom fyra beskrivningskategorier, vilka beskriver skolsköterskornas uppfattningar av att arbeta i en skolkontext; Skolsköterskeuppdraget, Arbetsmiljön, Verksamheten och Yrkesrollen. Konklusion: Studiens resultat påvisar att skolsköterskor uppfattar en oförståelse hos skolpersonal gällande deras uppdrag, vilken påverkar arbetssituationen i form av otillfredsställande arbetsmiljö och samarbetsproblem samt möjligheten till hälsofrämjande arbete. För att ge bättre förutsättningar för ett gott samarbete och positiv arbetsmiljö behöver skolsköterskornas uppdrag tydliggöras gentemot skolpersonal. Trots detta finns en arbetsglädje bland skolsköterskorna som överskuggar det negativa och som gör att de uppfattar arbetet som roligt, fritt och trivsamt.

Abstract [en]

Background: The role of the school nurse has changed over time and there has been a shift from at pathogenic to a salutogenic approach. The school nurse´s health promotion work is considered to be the key to improved health among children and young people. Despite clear descriptions of the health promoting and preventive focus, there are perceptions among the school nurses, that they are expected to fulfill a different function. This can create challenges in the work in terms of cooperation and communication and affect the sense of coherence. Purpose: To shed light on school nurses perceptions of working in a school context. Method: To achieve the purpose, a phenomenographic method was chosen. The data analysis is based on ten individual interviews with school nurses that were conducted digitally via the Teams or Zoom platform. Results: The findings of the study are presented trough four descriptive categories, which describes the school nurses perceptions of working in a school context; The school nurse assignment, The work environment, The operation and The professional role. Conclusion: The result of the study show that school nurses perceive a misunderstanding among school staff regarding their assignments, which affects the work situation in the form of an unsatisfied work environment and collaboration problems as well as the possibility of health promoting work. In order to provide better conditions for good collaboration and a positive work environment, the school nurses assignments need to clarified towards school staff. Despite this, there is a job satisfaction among school nurses that overshadows the negative and that makes them perceive the work as fun, free and pleasant.
