Recovery through visits in nature : A literature review of nature´s impact on stress (English)
Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Stressrelaterad ohälsa är idag vanligt förekommande och orsakar personligt lidande. Stress handlar om obalans mellan belastning och återhämtning. Långvarig stress kan resultera i en livssituation som ger både psykisk och fysisk ohälsa. För den som arbetar inom människovårdande yrken är det därför viktigt att kunna känna igen stress och dess symtom Syfte: Att belysa hur människor med stress upplever vistelse i naturen. Metod: Vald metod är en litteraturöversikt där kvalitativa och kvantitativa artiklar studerats. Resultat: Naturvistelse bidrar till psykologisk återhämtning vid stress. Stressade människor upplever att de har lättare att få ihop vardagen tack vare den återhämtning de får i naturen. Förmågan att reflektera kring sitt livssammanhang ökar och kraft och ambition att ta sig an framtiden infinner sig genom naturvistelse. Även fysisk återhämtning upplevs genom vistelse i naturen. Att erfara naturen via syn, känsel, smak och lukt upplevs ha en lugnande och avslappnande inverkan. Generellt bidrar vistelse i naturen till att människor känner sig förankrade i tillvaron och upplever känslor som glädje och tacksamhet. Konklusion: Resultatet visar att människor som lider av stress upplever återhämtning genom vistelse i natur

Abstract [en]

Background: Stress related ill health is today a common condition that causes personal suffering. Stress is about imbalance between load and recovery. Long-term stress can result in a life situation that gives both mental and physical ill health. For those who work in human-care professions, it is therefore important to be able to recognize stress and its symptoms Aim: To illustrate how people with stress experience visits in nature. Method: The chosen method is a literature review where qualitative and quantitative articles have been studied. Results: Visiting nature contributes to psychological recovery from stress. Stressed people find it easier to get their everyday life together thanks to the recovery they experience through visiting nature. The ability to reflect on ones lifesituation increases through visiting nature and also the power and ambition to take on the future. Also physical recovery is experienced through visiting nature. Experiencing nature through senses as sight, feeling, taste and smell is experienced to have a calming and relaxing impact. Generally, visiting nature contributes to feeling anchored in existence and experiencing feelings like joy and gratitude. Conclusion: The result shows that people suffering from stress experiences recovery through visits in the nature.
